Shongom Microfinance Bank is one of Nigeria’s foremost Banks. The Bank was established and incorporated as a legal entity in December, 1992 and commenced its business as a community Bank. However pursuant to the banking reforms in 2005, and the fulfillment of the stipulated minimum capital requirement of N20,000,000.00 by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) the bank was converted to Microfinance Bank in 2008 with a fully paid up capital. The Bank later increased its authorized share capital from N 25,000,000.00 to =N=50,000,000.00 by creation of 25,000,000.00 ordinary shares of =N=1.00 each the bank operates in Gombe State.
